ONGOING ACTIVITIES

LET'S SWAP BOOK STORE

The room at the end of the hall by the entrance to the choir room will be the location of our book swap. Once it opens, just bring in hard cover or paperback books that you’ve read and swap them for ones you want to read.

To get the store started. Just bring in your books that you no longer want but feel others may want to read and leave them in the Swap room or in the church office.

If you have questions, please contact Gary Brown (780-1869). Thank you for your support in this new endeavor. (No textbooks please.

LUNCH WITH THE METHODISTS ON WEDNESDAYS FROM 11:00 a.m. TO 1:00 p.m.IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL

Once a week, during the fall and spring semesters, the Witness Committee is sponsoring lunch for students who attend college in the Temple - Belton - Killeen area. We will serve a weekly lunch so that students can come out and enjoy a home cooked meal away from campus and get to know us.

The Witness Committee provides the food for the meal and we will ask that members of our congregation help with set up, serving and clean up. We have a few who have already given us their names for this ministry. if you would like to help with this, please call the church office and let us know. 939-5703. If you know any college students who might be interested, please let them know.

Lunch will be in the Fellowship Hall each Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.!

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP ASSEMBLE, SORT AND LABEL THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER ON THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH

The last Thursday of each month, a group of volunteers come to the church to help assemble, sort, and label the monthly newsletter. You are invited to come and join this group for a couple hours once a month. Generally, the volunteers work from 9:30 am. until noon. Gary Terlouw will be providing donuts and coffee to all who will come and help. The next newsletter will be mailed on August 28.

Because we will now be printing the newsletter in the church office, and we do not have a folding machine that will fold the 11” x 17” paper in half, we also need a couple volunteers to come in the day before to do the first folding of the newsletter pages, in preparation for the assembly of the newsletter on Wednesday. Please call Martha or Elizabeth if you would like to help with this.

AUDIO TAPE MINISTRY NEEDS MORE PARTICIPANTS

The 10:45 worship service is recorded on a cassette tape each Sunday in order to make it available to those who could not attend the service. Each week, volunteers take copies of the tapes to those who have signed up to receive them.

We need more volunteers to deliver the tapes to those who want to hear them and more people to sign up to receive them. The church has tape players available in the church office for those who need to borrow one to listen to the tapes.

If you would like to deliver the tapes or know someone (yourself?) who would like to listen to the tapes, please contact the church office at 939-5703 or fill out the form below and e-mail it to us by clicking on SEND:

FOOD PANTRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN JULY

During the month of July our church is responsible for providing volunteers to help at the Belton Helping Hands Ministry Food Pantry located at 1009 W. Ave. D in Belton. On Wednesdays two people are needed to help unload food itemd from the delivery truck from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday there are two or three hour shifts to asist in bagging bulk items, filling sacks and distributing sacks to clients.

Youth are needed to assist clients by carrying sacks to cars as needed. This is a good opportunity for adult and young members of FUMC to work together to help others in our community. During the month of June and July there will be a sign-up calendar in the church office for you to designate when you will be able to be part of this mission. Call the church office or Shirley Sykes for questions.

MEALS ON WHEELS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN SEPTEMBER

Every September is our month to help with delivering the meals for Meals-on-Wheels. Please call the church office to volunteer.

NURSING HOME MINISTRY IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS

This ministry was started more than 20 years ago by Julia Beth Allamon, a long time member of our church. This ministry consists of a weekly program which includes a devotional, singing of hymns, and prayer. It is well attended by the residents of Park Place. This ministry needs volunteers who can give devotionals, or who have musical talents they are willing to share with the residents of Park Place.

We meet at Park Place every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. and lasts for approximately one hour. We also need volunteers who can go and visit with the residents and assist them during our weekly visit. If you are interested in helping with this ministry or learning more about it, contact Faye Ritter or call the church office 939-5703.

ALERT FOR CAMPBELL’S LABEL CLIPPERS
(Collection Coordinators in our Church:UMW)

Effective June 2, 2006 front panel product labels were no longe accepted. Now we need to clip the UPCs with the antique picture of the student holding the very large pencil right next to it. The two must be attached, not taped or stapled together. Since the UPC is on the edge of the glued seam of the label, this will sometimes require a little soaking to remove it in one piece.

Please note: condensed soups, microwavable soups and box soups, along with Goldfish crackers, and V8 Splash lids are all worth 5 points. You can download the Eligible Products PDF presentation of products and instructions on what and how to collect from them. You can also click on a long list of products to get their point value.

ALL PRODUCTS ARE NOT EQUAL IN VALUE!

Get your friends and families involved in collecting labels. What are the labels used for? Purchasing equipment for our community schools. Campbell’s has been supporting this project for more than 30 years.

FUMC BELTON UMW COLLECTING LABELS FOR EDUCATION

Please save your "labels for education" proof of purchase information off your food products. UMW sends these to McCurty School (for the blind) in New Mexico and Red Bud School in Kentucky to help purchase supplies for these schools. The collection box is located on the little table next to the bulletin board across from the Fellowship Hall. Thank you.
