Pastor Jeff Miller

Jeff Miller is passionate about people experiencing a life-changing relationship in and through Jesus Christ and growing Christ’s church.

Originally from Detroit, MI, he grew up in Michigan and Southern California, but has spent most of his life in Texas. He remains a Detroit Tigers fan.

He has been married to Jannette Miller for 16 years. They enjoy being partners in ministry as both are ordained elders in the UMC. Jannette currently serves as pastor of HHUMC. Jeff has two daughters: Amy lives in Austin, and Allison lives in Tulsa, OK. Jeff has five siblings living in various parts of the US. His Dad, age 92, is a WWII veteran who currently lives in Riverside CA with his wife of 32 years.

Jeff appreciates the values and morals in Dr. Seuss stories and has been known to use them in sermons. His favorite book of the Bible is Paul’s letter to the Philippians, because it speaks of the joy from a life in Christ.  A key verse for his life is John 15:16: “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you.”

Raised Roman Catholic, Jeff formally committed his life to Christ in January 1980 in the Church of the Nazarene. Shortly afterward he experienced a call to ministry. He has served as youth minister, director of Christian education, Chaplain of Texas Wesleyan University, and has pastored Perrin UMC, Bethel UMC in Weatherford, First UMC in Coleman, First UMC in Breckenridge, and First UMC in Killeen (his current appointment). He also served as a Chaplain Candidate in the US Naval Reserves. He has led First UMC Killeen through the Healthy Church Initiative (HCI) process and serves as the HCI coach for St. John’s UMC in Georgetown. Jeff participated in the Advanced Church Leadership Institute through Asbury Theological Seminary.

Jeff has a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Point Loma Nazarene College, a Master of Religious Education from Nazarene Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M). He is listed in Who’s Who in Religion, Third Edition.

Jeff values hard work. He started working at the age of 12 as a newspaper carrier for the Detroit Free Press, and has worked in the grocery industry, as a waiter in restaurants, delivered bread, and practiced law.

Jeff is an amateur, emphasis on amateur, ventriloquist (not as good as Darren). He enjoys reading and swimming, spending time with family, and his favorite vacations include the ocean and Disneyland.
