Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist in Belton, Texas for 2008 will be held from July 7th through July 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. The theme for this year will be Group's Jerusalem Marketplace. VBS is open to children ages 3 years to those who just finished 5 grade.

Step back in time to walk with Jesus today!

Jerusalem Marketplace immerses learners of all ages in Bible-times culture. Preschoolers through adults taste and smell new foods, explore new traditions, and discover new talents as they try their hand at arts and crafts. At Jerusalem Marketplace VBS, you'll be a part of a Bible Times Experience where participants step back in time and discover the incredible accounts in the Bible really did happen. They'll build strong relationships with other tribe members, explore authentic traditions, create handmade projects and taste and smell exotic foods.

Jerusalem Marketplace is a multi sensory experience! Jerusalem Marketplace uses all five senses–see, hear, taste, touch, and smell–to create Bible encounters participants can't wait to share with others! Plus, participants go home with Bible Memory Makers and Family Devotional Kits–tools to reinforce learning.

The participants will be divided up into several crews. Each crew will have an adult or teenage crew leader. The activities will be divided into stations. Every day, crews will rotate through the stations exploring the same simple Bible point in a new way at each station.

VBS Jerusalem Marketplace - Help us “Raise the Dough”

For every $10 you donate, a loaf of bread with your name on it will go into the Vacation Bible School (VBS) “bakery”! (See display by the main entrance to the church). VBS is open to the community - there is no charge to attend, and many families in our community cannot afford to make a donation. The money you give provides funding for the snacks, Bible curriculum, and the craft items used by all of the children during VBS. Mark your check or giving envelope “VBS” and put it in the offering plate or bring it to the church office. Thank you!

Volunteers Will Be Needed to make
VBS a Success in 2008

The qualifications are:

  • Be at least thirteen years old
  • Love the Lord
  • Love children
  • Like to have fun
  • Have some experience working with children
  • Submit to a background check if over 18 years old

The responsibilities are:

  • Attend a leader meeting
  • Attend VBS each day
  • Participate in fun activities while shepherding a group of children
  • Arrive twenty minutes early to greet crew members each day
