Bible in 90 Days AkA: “B90” Begins February 7th

If you’ve ever had a goal of reading the WHOLE Bible cover to cover consider joining this Bible study. While the task may sound a bit daunting, it’s actually quite doable. All you have to do is read 12 pages a day. The study starts Tuesday, February 7th at 6:30pm and meets every Tuesday until May 8th. Mary Anna participated in this study last semester and found it a true blessing. For more information about this study, click here.

Fish Fry — February 22

Our Annual Fish fry is being held from 5:O0-6:3Opm to benefit the Youth Mission Fund. Please come to volunteer or to have a meal. Youth and parent help is needed for this meal, as this is a youth fundraiser for the summer mission trip to southern Missouri/Arkansas. We will need “runners” to go and get the fish from the “Fish Fry guys.” We will need help in the kitchen preparing and serving the sides starting at 4:00pm, and we will need someone serving drinks. Also, we will need people to help clean up after the meal.

ONE NOW — February 24-26th

Ok yall, this is the one you have all been waiting for. The Big Cheese as they would say in Wisconsin. One Now is a retreat that happens once a year. We will meet at the church on Friday afternoon and make the trip down to Georgetown to our Host Homes. We will be staying in Georgetown until Sunday morning when we will come back to the Church. The weekend will involve food, a service project, a rally on Friday and Saturday night, a live band & speaker, and a ton of fun. The cost is $60 until February 1 The price goes up to $75 if you choose to sign up after that date (however if you sign up after February 1 you are NOT guaranteed a t-shirt). We need all participants to fill out the One Now Form and we also require that they have an up to date medical release form.

Confirmation is for students that are in 5 through 12 grade. it is an opportunity to ask your questions about our faith, our church, and Christ. Toward the end of the course, each person will privately be asked if they are ready to commit their life to Christ and join the church. Talk to Pastor Walker (939-5703) if you have any questions.

Mentor program

If there is any interest, we are thinking about starting a mentor program that matches the youth with the adults in the congregation. We would have you and an adult in the congregation fill out some information, and we would use that information to decide who you would be best paired up with (after praying about it of course). Mentors and mentees would meet at least once a month together. Y’all decide what y’all would like to do together — be it volunteer together at a place like Helping Hands, meet together and do a Bible study, have dinner together, run errands together, help around the house, etc. You could tell your mentor about any games or concerts you may be involved in so that they can attend and cheer you on. it’s however you would like to spend time together. This is a great way to get to know our church family on a more personal level. We have some really neat people in our congregation, and I’d love for y’all to get to know them better. If you are interested in participating in this, let Mary Anna know.

World Vision Child

For several years the youth group has sponsored a World Vision child named Noemi. She is currently in the 9th grade. Her favorite subject is social sciences, and she is currently working to improve her math skills. She is active in youth councils in her home country of Ecuador and loves to play soccer. To sponsor her annually we need to raise $312. Please continue to support Noemi! Give whatever you can; every little bit will help! World Vision donations help build a stronger community and give children and their families access to programs that provide, clean water, food security, healthcare, education, economic opportunity, and Christian witness.

JUNIOR HIGH REPRESENTATIVE NEEDED FOR YOUTH COUNCIL

If you are in middle school, there is a position open for JH Rep on Youth Council. The youth council generally meets about once a month and plans the various activities and events, as well as shares their ideas and opinions on certain topics related to our youth ministry. If you are interested in joining youth council, let Mary Anna know.

Emergency Release Forms

Please be sure to fill out a new emergency release form if you have not done so. These have to be renewed every year. Keep an extra form on hand for friends that you invite to youth. For a printable form, type http://fumcbelton.org/mrflw.htm in the address space above. Use the BACK button to return to this page.

Fall Festival

Every year on the last Sunday in October before Halloween, we hold a Fall Festival in the Family Life Center. We have games and food for everyone. Game tickets are sold for 10 cents each as a fund raiser for our summer mission trip. For more information about this festival plus pictures of previous festivals, click here.

Youth Snack Suppers

We are in need of parents to sign up to bring meals for UMYF on Sunday nights. If you have a child in the youth group we ask that you sign up to do this at least 3 to 4 times a year. If you provide a meal, plan to cook for approximately 15 people. Our youth are generally pretty easy to please as far as food goes.

Chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese are a favorite. Other suggestions would be chicken spaghetti, lasagna, pancakes, spaghetti, casseroles, hot dogs, baked potatoes and soup, sausage wraps, tacos, fajitas, taquitos, frito pie, etc. If you don’t have time to cook anything, Bush’s is a favorite, and then of course, pizza is a good idea too. We do have one vegan in the youth group, so it’d be a good idea to provide fruits and vegetables as sides.

If you are interested in signing up to bring the snack supper, please contact our church secretary at 939-5703. Church members and committees are welcome to provide a dinner if they feel led to as well.

Dinner is usually served at or around 6:30 p.m. and some clean up is involved. If you have further questions, please speak to Mary Anna. Here is a list of available dates:
