Mission Trip for Adults
November 25-30, 2018
We want YOU to go on a mission trip with us to the Sager Brown United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) Depot in Baldwin, LA! We will be leaving on the Sunday following Thanksgiving (November 25) and returning the following Friday (November 30).
When people think of UMCOR they think of Flood Buckets, especially here in Texas where so many are needed every year. But that is not the only mission at Sager Brown. They have a sewing room where they make school bags and other projects for underprivileged children. There is a fully stocked wood shop where you can work on various projects or you could go into the community and build a wheelchair ramp. If lawn care and landscaping is your thing, they are always looking for volunteers. Distributing food commodities to low income senior citizens, basic cleaning and visiting with seniors at St. Jules (a low income senior housing facility), work in the the thrift store at Chez Hope (a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse), read to preschoolers at a local head start reading program, working at The Bridge (a faith based solution for drug and alcohol addiction), and many other organizations are all opportunities for you to help those less fortunate. Cost for the mission trip is $25 deposit and $275 for the trip for a total of $300. This includes transportation there and back, accommodations and food for the week. If you cannot accompany us on this worthwhile mission but would like to help someone else go, you can either sponsor an individual or give money that will offset the expense for everyone. If you would like to go but do not think your budget would cover it, please contact Kelli for information about a “scholarship.”

Please contact the church office at 939-5703 or email adminassistant@fumcmail.org if you want to join us on this exciting and fufilling mission trip!
