Five Practices of Fruitful Living

Connecting to God (Passionate Worship)                                         Genesis 12:1-8

Passionate worship, whether traditional or modern, contemplative or expressive, means an extraordinary eagerness to offer our best in honoring God with an unusual clarity about the purpose; and that is encountering God.

“Passionate worship is the kind of worship that takes us to a new place where we can see God differently than we’ve ever seen God before.” (Bary Bullock, Five Practices Leasers Manual -pg. 103

Through worship we connect to God, we draw closer to God, and we willingly go where God is leading us.  Worship makes us God’s people.  If we’re open to experience God we will experience God.

If you think about the 10 Commandments, the first four are all about worship.
  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Reflect on:
Think about all the places where you have worshiped-buildings, chapels, outdoors, weddings, funerals, retreats.  What do you think is God’s intention for calling us to worship?

Challenge:
Think about each part of the service-greetings, songs, prayers, sermons-and meditate on its purpose for connecting people to God.

Memory Verse:
John 4:23
But the time is coming-and is here!-when true worshipers will worship in spirit and truth.  The Father looks for those who worship him this way.
